Old School RuneScape just received a big new update that includes an expansion to Treasure Trails, a fun mini-game in which you have to follow a bunch of clues to solve various mysteries, earning exclusive rewards.

The expansion shakes up the formula in a variety of different ways to include new scrolls, puzzles, and rewards. There’s a lot to take in so we’re going to round up all of the changes below to help you make sense of it.

What Are Beginner Clue Scrolls?

Beginner Clue Scrolls are a brand new clue scroll that’s available for both free players and members. It’s short, only featuring between one and three steps to complete.

A new tutor is also available that will detail how clue scrolls work and where you can get them. You’ll automatically be directed to the tutor when you complete the X Marks the Spot quest. If you’ve completed that already, you can still visit the tutor to get a free Beginner Clue Scroll.

Though this isn’t the final list, Jagex has mentioned the following items as a possible reward for completing Beginner Clue Scrolls:

Frog Slippers

Runes Cape

Rune Scimitar Ornament Kit

Monk Robs (t)

Beginner Clue Scrolls won’t be a requirement to obtain a Master Clue Scroll from Watson though, so Members need not worry.

There Are New Clue Puzzles?

The Old School Community designed a bunch of new slider puzzles that celebrate some of the best OSRS updates from the past few years. These puzzles will now appear across all tiers of Clue Scroll.

These include sliding puzzles that riff on:

Raids I: Chambers of Xeric

Theatre of Blood

Vorkath

What About the New Rewards?

Much like the new slider puzzles, Jagex asked the community to design a bunch of new rewards for OSRS. The following frontrunners will be put to a poll that they’ll need to pass to make it into the game, but we think they stand a solid chance.

Cape of Skulls – Easy Tier

This skull basically acts like the Amulet of Avarice in that it skulls the players while worn, and for 20 minutes after the cape is removed.

In terms of stats, it’s exactly the same as the Obsidian Cape.

Spiked Manacles – Medium Tier

The Spiked Manacles have the same stats as the Climbing Boots but with a +4 strength bonus and no defence bonuses.

Blessed D’hide Shields – Hard Tier

The Blessed D’hide Shields are basically a God version of the Black d’hide Shield. They feature a +1 prayer bonus and come in Guthix, Saradomin, Zamorak, Ancient, Armadyl, and Bandos forms.

Fremennik Kilt – Elite Tier

The Fremennik Kilt, apart from looking awesome, features the same stats as the Iron Platelegs but with a +1 strength bonus.

Third Age Druidic Set – Master Tier

This will be the final Third Age set to arrive in Old School RuneScape. It comes in two pieces, and will require 65 Prayer and Defence to wear. It’s designed to go with the Third Age Druidic Wreath.

Other Rewards

Though we don’t know what they’ll look like or what stats they’ll have, here’s a bunch of other rewards Jagex might place into the game as part of the Treasure Trails expansion:

Uri’s Hat

Ranger Tights

Obby Maul Ornament Kits

Gilded Dragonhide Set

Gilded Defender Kit

3rd Age Plateskirt

Wolf Mask and Cape

Sandwich Lady Outfit

Heraldic Platebodies

Joint of H.A.M (wieldable)

Staff of Bob the Cat

Double Sai

3rd Age Staff

Jester Cape

Gnome Scarf Recolours

Mole Slippers

Gilded Spade

Gilded Hatchet and Pickaxe
